PRAYER OF LETTING GO
To You do I belong, O God,
into Your hands I surrender my life.
Pour out Your Spirit upon me
that I may love You perfectly,
 and serve You faithfully
until my soul rests in You.

It's our theme today from Holy Scripture: tasting the goodness of the Lord. As we gather around the table of prayer, we call the God Minute. Welcome. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. O Lord, open my lips.

SPEAKER_03

And my mouth shall declare your praise. Glorify the Lord with me.

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the stalwart one who takes refuge in him. The word of the Lord. I think if I was asked to choose one type of food, I'd probably go with Italian food. I cannot think of a time when I have had a pasta dish that I did not thoroughly enjoy. Most of the time, though, I can be satisfied with any meal that I didn't have to cook myself. I'm not really what you would call a foodie. I eat because we need food to live. When my husband and I are in the kitchen, side by side preparing dinner. What I enjoy is the collaboration and the partnership more than the thought of eating. It makes our body strong and keeps us healthy. Just like food nourishes our bodies. The grace of God nourishes our soul. Sometimes we experience this grudge flavor of a hearty meal of God's goodness. And it is easy to recognize God's movement in our lives. With confidence, we praises and gratitude comes easily. We are starving. I have shelter. I have clothing and food and family and good friends. I see beauty in nature. I hear it in music. I have felt joy and comfort in solid relationships over the years. I have found courage to do things that frightened me. And I have calmly navigated some very difficult conversations and situations. I can rely on his goodness. So can you. God is good. Maybe take a few moments today to consider where you have seen his goodness in your own life. Even if it was just a taste. Let the goodness of God feed your soul and sustain your spirit.

And joined in surrender, we pray. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Let us pray. Loving God, you invite us not only to know about you, but to taste and see you and your goodness for ourselves. Open our hearts to recognize your presence in the quiet moments. May we always hunger more deeply for you and be your living witnesses to those around us. We ask through Christ our Lord. To you do I belong, O God. Into your hands I surrender my life. Pour out your spirit upon me, that I may love you perfectly and serve you faithfully until my soul rests in you. German. Sorry, Peggy, it's German food for me. Have you ever had a roasted pork knuckle and potato dumpling slathered in gravy? Oh yum. But food aside, friends, today, let's taste the bounty of the Lord and his goodness. And then serve it to others around us as we go forth with his blessing, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit upon us. So I'll leave you today with a jazzy version of our scripture and reflection, and we'll see you tomorrow.

I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise forever, almighty. My soul will boast in the Lord most high. The humble will hear and be glad. Come magnify the Lord with me. Let us exalt his holy name. I sought the Lord, He answered me. He delivered me from shame. Taste and see the Lord is good. Fear the Lord like nothing more. Every soul is kept within it. The Lord will hear. But the Lord delivers every time. He guards the bones now on his lost. Salvation shining in his light. Taste and see the Lord is good. Fear the Lord like nothing more. Every soul is kept within the Lord redeems his servants' lives.

None who trusts will be condemned. Peace belongs to those who seek.
