Welcome to a new week with the God Minute. I'm Sarah. Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. A day that reminds us that God can be at work in ways we don't immediately recognize or understand. And maybe that's a good thought to carry with us into this Monday. We don't know what this week will bring, and we certainly don't have to have it all figured out. We begin simply by trusting that God is already here. Let us pray. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

This also comes from the Lord of hosts. He is wonderful in counsel and great in wisdom. The word of the Lord. Isaiah's words invite us to pause and recognize something we so easily forget. God is wiser than we are. In a world that encourages us to depend upon our own understanding, plans, and abilities, the prophet reminds us that true wisdom comes from the Lord. God sees what we cannot see, understands what we cannot understand, and knows where our lives are ultimately meant to lead. There are moments when God's ways seem confusing. We may wonder why a door has closed, or why a particular struggle has been permitted. In such moments, faith calls us not to have every answer, but to trust the one who does. I'm reminded of a story I once heard about a tragic collapse of a coal mine in Wales that killed many miners. After the funeral, one of the widows approached the presiding priest and said, Father, I can't make any sense of this. Why would God allow this to happen? The priest removed a bookmark from his Bible and showed the widow the backside. There were many threads going in what seemed to be random directions. It was a disorder. He then turned it over and revealed a beautifully embroidered. Mary could not see the whole path before her. She knew that God was asking something extraordinary of her, but she did not know all that would follow. Yet she responded with faith. Let it be done to me according to your word. Her example teaches us that surrender is not weakness, it is an act of profound faith. Like Mary, we need to place our lives in his hands, confident that his wisdom is greater than ours. We need humility to seek his wisdom and patience to wait for his guidance, following him even when the road ahead is unclear.

And offer that to the Lord. Trusting in His goodness, we pray. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Let us pray, God of all wisdom, when we cannot see the way ahead, teach us to trust you. Give us the wisdom to listen for your voice, the faith of Mary to place our lives in your hands, and the courage to trust the mystery of the cross, especially when we do not understand. In all that remains unknown, let your wisdom be enough for the next step. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. And together we pray, To you do I belong, O God, into your hands I surrender my life. Pour out your Spirit upon me, that I may love you perfectly and serve you faithfully until my soul rests in you. As you continue on into this Monday, may you find a little more peace in letting God be God. And on this feast of the exaltation of the Holy Cross, may the cross be a quiet reminder that we are always held by a love greater than we can imagine. And may God bless us with his love. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
