PRAYER OF LETTING GO
To You do I belong, O God,
into Your hands I surrender my life.

After founding the Ladies of Charity in 1617 to assist with the physical needs of the poor, Saint Vincent turned to the spiritual needs of so many who were marginalized and separated from the church. More priests and brothers were needed. And in 1625, he founded a congregation of men with the mission of evangelization, known as the Vincentians, or more formally, the Congregation of the Mission. With us today is a young man in the seminary studying to become a Vincentian priest who will share his call and desire to give his life in service. Welcome to prayer. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_00Hi, I'm Andy Cruz. I'm a seminarian at the Miraculous Metal House in Jamaica, Queens, New York. I'm in my second year of philosophy at St. John's University. My encounter with the Vincentians happened in 2022 when the Lord answered my prayer by sending two breezes to my house on Resurrection Sunday. After they beat me in a soccer manager, they invited me to begin the discernment brasses, attending the sermon meetings and getting to know the Vincenzian way of life. In the first meeting, as I met the other seminarians and vermaters, I felt the warmth and brace of God, a community that wasn't really committed to the roots and rosted design beans in the board to serve and evangelize the board. In these two years of formation, I have come to appreciate that we are able to find ourselves in a structural prayer that was able to draw us closer to God and strengthen our relationship with Him in order to fulfill our misery. I have been able to truly understand the merciful, caring and providing love of God through one another. As we bring the poor to prayer, the experiences we receive from every apostle of God are truly our grace given from heaven, allowing us to be participants in the ministry of Christ, and to fold examples and miserable who showed us our seal of our souls. In that desire to show the marginalized and the abandoned world that they are not wasted, showing them that they are someone or somebody, I feel more than ever that God keeps calling each one of us to look back, to look to our sides, and to look at our surroundings, and even to look within our own families and seek out the need as one. With the help of my new Binsengian family, we keep moving forward, observing, praying, and preparing ourselves to one day become faithful servants of the Lord, and as San Vincent says, servants of our Lord, the poor people. Let us remember the calling that our God gave us, gave to us, to love one another as ourselves, and that whatever we do for the least of our brothers and sisters, we do it for Him. On this celebration of the Feast of Saint Vincent, let this call resonate in our hearts. Thank you for listening to me. God bless you.

SPEAKER_03Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for calling those to the priesthood, especially the ones drawn to the congregation of the mission. Bless them and their vocation, that they may follow in the footsteps of Saint Vincent de Paul, preaching the good news to the poor. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
